The Glaciers of Kenya

Just a four-hour drive from our house in Nairobi (plus a two-day hike) are the only glaciers in Kenya, lying between 15,000′ and 17,000′ in elevation on the slopes of Mount Kenya, the second-highest peak in Africa after Kilimanjaro.  Last week my son Ernie and I took six days of summer vacation to seek out winter as we backpacked on and around the mountain.  It was good exercise for the body and good rest for the mind.
